Pro-Bush Nicholas Sarkozy Wins French Election
In France, voters have elected the right-wing, pro-Bush Nicolas Sarkozy to be the country's new president. By a 53 to 47 percent margin, Sarkozy beat the socialist candidate Segolene Royale. In his victory speech, Sarkozy assured Americans of France's "friendship." Within hours of the election results being announced, thousands of demonstrators took to the streets to protest. In central Paris, police fired tear gas and water cannons at demonstrators. Over 100 cars were set on fire in the suburbs of Paris. Protests were also held in Bordeaux, Marseille, Lille, Nantes, Toulouse, and Lyon.
150 Die over Weekend in Iraq
In Iraq, at least 150 people died over the past three days in a series of attacks. Earlier today, a pair of suicide car bombers killed 20 people in Ramadi. On Sunday, 30 died when a car bomb ripped through a wholesale food market in western Baghdad.
US Helicopters Bomb Sadr City
US helicopters bombed parts of the Shiite neighborhood of Sadr City on Saturday. Local residents said the airstrikes killed at least one civilian and injured eight others. One of the US rockets hit the home of an eight-year-old named Ruqaya Jabbar. She described what happened:
We were asleep when they [US forces] hit us. We were frightened, and we run there. And they started to fire at us, wounding one here. They hit us with rockets. Why? What did we do? They destroyed the house. Why? We did nothing. We are poor people, and we were asleep.
More than 1/3 of US Soldiers in Iraq Approve of Torture
A new Army survey has found that more than one-third of US soldiers in Iraq said they believe torture should be allowed in some cases. In addition, about two-thirds of Marines and half the Army troops surveyed said they would not report a team member for mistreating a civilian or for unnecessarily destroying civilian property. The Army survey found that fewer than half of the soldiers polled believed that non-combatants should be treated with dignity and respect. 10 percent of the troops said they had personally mistreated civilians in Iraq. Nearly 1800 troops took part in the survey. Acting Army surgeon major general Gale Pollock characterized the report as positive news. He told reporters, "What it speaks to is the leadership that the military is providing, because they're not acting on those thoughts. They're not torturing the people."
Well, major general Gale Pollock is ignoring that "about two-thirds of Marines and half the Army troops surveyed said they would not report a team member for mistreating a civilian." There is no way for Pollock to know that they aren't "acting on those thoughts." He doesn't know that they're not torturing the people.
The truth of the matter is that the US military is a knowing and desirous magnet for sadists.
They all need to exorcize their demons.
Al Qaeda's al-Zawahiri Urges US to Stay in Iraq
Al Qaeda's Ayman al-Zawahiri has issued a new videotape criticizing Democratic efforts in Washington to withdraw troops from Iraq, because he said it would prevent al Qaeda from being able to kill more Americans. Zawahiri said the following:
This bill reflects American failure and frustration. However, this bill will deprive us of the opportunity to destroy the American forces, which we have caught in a historic trap. We ask Allah that they only get out of it after losing two hundred to three hundred thousand killed, in order that we give the spillers of blood in Washington and Europe an unforgettable lesson which will motivate them to review their entire doctrinal and moral system which produced their historic criminal crusader/Zionist entity.
US Blocks UN Visit to Texas Immigration Prison
The US government has blocked a United Nations expert from visiting a jail in Texas where the US is holding up to 400 immigrants including children and asylum seekers. The UN special rapporteur on the human rights of migrants, Jorge Bustamante, is in the middle of a three-week fact-finding mission to examine how immigrants are being treated in the United States. Bustamante had planned on visiting the Hutto immigration facility in Taylor, Texas today, but his visit has been blocked by the Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Earlier this year, the American Civil Liberties Union filed a federal lawsuit on behalf of 12 children detained at the Hutto facility, charging that the children are subjected to inhumane treatment.
Arizona Man Arrested for Threatening Cinco De Mayo Festival
In Arizona, a Flagstaff man was arrested for threatening to violently disrupt a Cinco de Mayo festival. The man, James Wesley Creek, attempted to post an Internet message saying that the Virginia Tech killings would pale in comparison to his plans to disrupt the festivities. Federal authorities said Creek had helped distribute fliers for the Ku Klux Klan, had a dislike for Mexicans, and owned about a half dozen guns. Meanwhile in Gaithersburg, Maryland, a center for day laborers was set on fire on Friday, less than a month after it opened. Investigators said the fire was deliberately set.
NRA Backs Gun Rights for Terrorism Suspects
The National Rifle Association is publicly backing the rights of suspects on terrorism watch lists to be able to buy firearms. The NRA has asked the Bush administration to withdraw its support from a bill that would prohibit arm sales to suspected terrorists. NRA director Chris Cox criticized the bill saying it "would allow arbitrary denial of Second Amendment rights based on mere 'suspicions' of a terrorist threat."
Israel Accused of Abusing and Torturing Palestinian Detainees
A new study by a pair of leading Israeli human rights organizations has found Israeli interrogators are routinely beating and sometimes torturing Palestinian detainees. Sarit Michaeli of B'Tselem said the following:
Some of these methods include sensory deprivation, the holding of interrogees in appalling conditions, and painful shacklings for long periods of time. In some cases, the ISA (Israeli army) uses methods that constitute torture under international law. Those methods involve the use of direct physical violence on Palestinian detainees in the opposition of course both to international law and also to the Israeli high court decision of 1999.
B'Tselem and The Center for the Defense of the Individual based its report on testimony from 73 Palestinian detainees.
Warren Buffet's Fund Rejects Sudan Divestment Proposal
Shareholders of the investment fund Berkshire Hathaway, led by Warren Buffet, have rejected a proposal to divest from companies profiting in Sudan. Berkshire is the largest independent shareholder in PetroChina, whose parent company, China National Petroleum, drills and exports much of Sudan's oil, providing funds for the Sudanese government and its military. Activist shareholders urged Berkshire to divest because of the Sudanese government's role in the genocide in Darfur where hundreds of thousands of people have died. Meanwhile, Darfur activists are criticizing the Bush administration for describing the Sudanese government as a "strong partner in the War in Terror." The description appears in the State Department's 2006 terrorism report.
Merck Criticizes Brazil's Decision to Make Generic AIDS Drugs
Brazil's president Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva is squaring off with international pharmaceutical companies over the price of AIDS drugs. On Friday, Lula signed a decree authorizing the Brazilian government to begin manufacturing or importing generic versions of the drug Efavirenz made by Merck. Lula said it is unethical to charge high prices for drugs of such importance.
We want prices that are fair not only for us but for all infected human beings on earth. We have to make this decision. After all, between our trade and our health, we'll take care of our health.
Merck criticized Brazil's move, saying it was an expropriation of intellectual property. Thailand recently issued a similar decree over a drug made by the US company Abbott Laboratories. Abbott responded by refusing to sell seven new drugs in the Thai market, a move that was condemned by AIDS activists and within the medical community.
In Colombia, 105 Bodies Found in Mass Graves
In Colombia, the remains of 105 bodies have been discovered buried in mass graves. The bodies are believed to be victims of right-wing paramilitary death squads. This marks the biggest such discovery in Colombia in over 40 years. The news was announced on Saturday, one day after Colombian president Alvaro Uribe concluded a three-day trip to Washington where his administration was repeatedly criticized for having ties to right-wing paramilitaries. Uribe is trying to win support for a new trade agreement and continued Congressional backing of Plan Colombia.
Three Leaders of Atenco Uprising Sentenced to 67 Years in Jail
In Mexico, three leaders of a populist uprising in the city of Atenco have been sentenced to 67 years in jail. The men are members of the People's Front in Defense of the Land. They were arrested a year ago during a police raid on the city of Atenco and were charged with kidnapping. The chair of Mexico's Human Rights Commission denounced the sentences. Hours after the sentence was announced, subcommandante Marcos and the Zapatistas held a protest outside the prison where the men are being held. The sentences came almost exactly a year after Mexican police raided the city of Atenco and arrested over 200 farm workers and activists. Human rights groups condemned the actions of the police in Atenco. At least 23 women reported being raped or sexually assaulted in police custody. 28 of the activists remain behind bars at a high-security prison. No police officer has been held accountable.
Kenya Plane Crash Kills 114, Including AP Reporter
In Africa, 114 people are believed to have died after a Kenya Airways 737 crashed in Cameroon on Saturday during a heavy rainstorm. Among the dead was Anthony Mitchell, a journalist for the Associated Press. A month ago, Mitchell appeared on Democracy Now to discuss his expose on how CIA and FBI agents have been interrogating hundreds of detainees at secret prisons in Ethiopia. Many of the prisoners were recently transferred there secretly and illegally from Kenya and Somalia. They are being held without charge or access to lawyers or their families. He had reported the following:
This is a story that dates back to the beginning of January in the collapse of the Islamic Courts Union in Somalia. There had been a conflict between the Ethiopian and Somali transitional governments against the Islamic Courts. The Islamic Courts movement collapsed, and at that time hundreds of people, thousands, fled Somalia, many of them to Kenya, and a large number were detained crossing the border. After they were detained a number of weeks, they had been transferred on flights back to Somalia and onto Ethiopia, where they are now in detention.

One In Eight Iraqi Children Die Before the Age of Five
Iraq's infant mortality rate has soared by 150 percent since 1990 according to a new report by the charity Save the Children. One in eight Iraqi children now dies of disease or violence before the age of five. In 2005 alone, 122,000 Iraqi children died before reaching their fifth birthday. Save the Children said Iraq's child-survival ranking is now the lowest in the world.
Whose fault is that? It's primarily the neocons of the Bush/Cheney camp's fault. They have all the souls who would otherwise have lived to haunt them. It's the fault of those who voted for them too. Repent.
How do we save the children? For one, we don't follow child killers. We don't have them as leaders of anything.
Sunni Vice President Threatens to Pull Out of Government
Iraq is facing a potential political crisis. Iraqi vice president Tariq al-Hashemi has announced he will lead a withdrawal of Sunni politicians from the Cabinet and parliament if changes are not made to Iraq's constitution by May 15. Some say the move could be a potentially devastating blow to reconciliation efforts within Iraq.
68 Killed in Iraq on Monday
At least 68 people died in Iraq on Monday including 13 in a pair of attacks in Ramadi. Earlier today a powerful car bomb exploded in the Shiite city of Kufa. 16 people died. Another 70 were wounded.
Iraqis Vow to Destroy "Wall of Occupation" In Baghdad
The Iraqi newspaper Az-Zaman is reporting today that the residents of the Baghdad neighborhood al-Azhamiya have vowed to destroy the wall that was built by US forces to isolate the Sunni area from nearby neighborhoods. Residents of the area described the structure as the "Wall of Occupation." On Friday, a member of the 82nd Airborne was shot by a sniper while inspecting the wall in Baghdad. The soldier is in stable condition.
Iraq War Hampered Recovery Efforts after Kansas Tornado
In Kansas, the death toll from last week's tornado in the town of Greensburg has reached nine. Governor Kathleen Sebelius said the town is devastated.
She said, "There really are no businesses, very few residences, no school, no hospital; the community is pretty well gone."
She further said recovery efforts have been hampered because much of the state's National Guard personnel and equipment is in Iraq and Afghanistan. Kansas lacks about half the large equipment it could use for recovery efforts and debris removal, including dump trucks and front loaders. More than 20 percent of its Humvees and all but four of its helicopters were sent to Iraq. Kansas now has about 1,000 Guard troops serving in Iraq, Afghanistan, and on the Mexican border. Sebelius said Kansas can't borrow equipment from other states, because much of the equipment of other states is in Iraq as well. They have been forced to hire private contractors to help clear debris.
Most Democratic Candidates Support Enlarging US Military
A new survey conducted by the Hill newspaper has found the majority of Democratic presidential candidates back increasing the size of the military. Last month senator Barack Obama called for an increase in Pentagon spending and an extra 65,000 soldiers and 27,000 Marines. Senators Hillary Clinton and Joseph Biden and former senator John Edwards have also backed building a larger military. The Hill reports that only two Democratic candidates — New Mexico governor Bill Richardson and congressman Dennis Kucinich — are openly discussing cutting the Pentagon's budget.
Think about that. The Democrats have become a War Party. Most of the Democratic candidates are in the hip pocket of the military-industrial complex. They are sellouts. They would make terrible stewards and shepherds. Don't follow them.
Amnesty: China, Russia, Saudis Supply Arms to Sudan
Amnesty International has accused China and Russia of supplying arms to Sudan that are being used to attack civilians in Darfur, in breach of a UN arms embargo. Amnesty has also accused two close US allies, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia, of supplying arms. Over 200,000 people have been killed in Darfur in recent years. On Monday officials from the United Nations and African Union met the head of the Arab League to discuss Darfur.
Jan Eliasson, UN special envoy for Darfur, said, "Practically everyone we have talked to has said there is no military solution, and if they say there is no military solution, then there is only one logical conclusion, namely that there has to be a political settlement. So we would now hope to see all of the movements. We still have work to do in that respect but hope that they will also be coming to those negotiations in good faith and be preparing themselves for real negotiations."
Chevron to Pay Fine for Paying Kickbacks to Saddam Hussein
The New York Times is reporting that the US oil company Chevron is preparing to pay up to $30 million in fines for illegally paying kickbacks to Saddam Hussein for access to Iraq's oil before the US invasion in 2003. The penalty, which is still being negotiated, would be the largest so far in the United States in connection with investigations of companies involved in the oil-for-food scandal. It appears Chevron began paying Iraq kickbacks in August 2000. At the time secretary of state Condoleezza Rice was a member of Chevron's board and led its public policy committee, which oversaw areas of potential political concerns for the company.
Was Rice aware of Chevron illegal dealings and yet said nothing? It's how she became a member of the Oil administration.
World Bank Panel Rules Wolfowitz Broke Bank Rules
Paul Wolfowitz's days at the helm of the World Bank could soon be coming to an end. The World Bank oversight committee has concluded Wolfowitz broke ethics rules when he oversaw a pay raise and promotion for his lover, Shaha Ali Riza. The committee also says Wolfowitz then tried to hide his actions from scrutiny.
Pressure is increasing on Paul Wolfowitz to resign as head of the World Bank. On Monday one of Wolfowitz's closest aides, Kevin Kellems, resigned.
The New York Times reports European governments are trying to reach a deal with the Bush administration where Wolfowitz would soon resign and the US would be allowed to pick the bank's next chief.
That's a bad idea. The World Bank should tell the US that it, the US, will not pick the next chief for once. If the US wants to pull funding for the World Bank, then the World Bank should go ahead without the US. It should get funding from everywhere else where the political leaders would not insist that US companies and consultants get the lion's share of everything. The World Bank should start making real low-cost funding available to the poor. It should start doing what it was created to do for once.
Latin American Nations Unite to Form Bank of South
Momentum is growing in Latin America to form an alternative to the US-controlled World Bank. Venezuela and Argentina have already pledged more than one billion dollars to start the Banco del Sur, or Bank of the South. Brazil, Bolivia, Ecuador, and Paraguay have all expressed support for the bank.
Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula Da Silva said, "We're meeting all the ministers to discuss what's the goal of this bank. Is it a bank for financing? Is it a bank to develop the region? How will each country participate? In what way will we participate? So to create a bank, it's necessary for us to have sustainability in the idea. It's important for it to be a financial institution of much credibility, and for that, we need to resolve all political divergence that may exist about the bank."
Last week Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez announced Venezuela would pull out of the World Bank and IMF.
Hugo Chavez said, "We don't need to go to Washington, not to the IMF nor to the World Bank nor to anything. I want to formalize the exit of Venezuela from the World Bank from the IMF and from all of that. We don't need anymore to have a governor or a representative there. No, let's get out. We don't even want to be there and they return our money to us because now they owe us. They need to return our money to us because they owe us."
This is a right idea for Latin America. They just need to do their best not to be usurious. They need to fund environmental projects, sustainable projects, for the sakes of the poor. Then God will bless their efforts. It must not be for the forces of greed, violence, or depravity. It must operate under the Golden Rule and under the New Commandment. Then it will be blessed beyond measure.
Two LAPD Commanders Reassigned After May Day Protest Violence
In Los Angeles, two high-ranking police department commanders have been reassigned over their role in the police department's violent crushing of a lawful immigrant's rights rally last week. The two officers who apparently gave the command to attack the peacefully assembled group and the press in LA, deputy chief Cayler "Lee" Carter, Jr., of the Operations Central Bureau and commander Louis Gray, have been reassigned. An investigation has begun.
Police dressed in riot gear fired 240 rounds of rubber bullets and tear gas. Officers were seen on video clubbing protesters and journalists with batons. Overall, 10 people, including seven journalists, were taken to hospitals with injuries. On Sunday, LA Police chief, William Bratton, took 60 members of the police department's elite Metropolitan Division's B Platoon off the street.
It was an absolutely racist, fascist action by the LAPD in the Park against peaceful people. It was appalling. They should be thoroughly ashamed of themselves. It was shameful. They are supposed to protect the people. Instead, they made hell for peaceful, poor people simply asking for some fundamental fairness and basic justice in this life.
We must say that if the police continue using fascistic tactics against citizens, there will be citizens who will become fed up and start fighting back, including with deadly weapons if it comes to that.
We are adamantly opposed to that. The people should not fight back. They should continue holding the moral high ground and should continue turning the other cheek just as Jesus did. We raise the issue as a spiritual warning to the police who make a huge mistake treating the citizenry with such contempt and with such bullying violence and racism and classism.
We used the expression "Sadistic Thugs." Why did the police behave as they did? Why does the culture produce such mentalities? Who is to blame? What must be done about it?
Those police officers are caught up in the cycle of violence. They are acting in an extremely self-centered manner on behalf of others who are even more so, but don't want to dirty their own hands or work up a sweat. They therefore pay others to oppress and persecute.
Now that the media has been directly attacked indiscriminately, the situation is getting much more attention.
It is also ironic that FOX-network employee suffered direct assaults by the LAPD. The fascists beat the fascists. Perhaps some people at FOX may come to realize that fascism is a real and present danger and something they should not be defending and promoting as they have been.
LAPD Sued for Crackdown on May Day Protest
In Los Angeles, attorneys with the National Lawyers Guild have filed suit against city and police officials on behalf of immigrant groups and protesters injured during the LAPD's crackdown on a May Day rally in McArthur Park.
The police need to learn that they cannot do this sort of thing. Will the people teach them? Can they learn? How will the future of policing be since many of the country's future police officers are serving in Iraq right now? Will it be riddled with psychopathic behavior? The police departments need to have their standards raised.
We of course are against the whole system. The message of Jesus needs to be the focus throughout the world. It is the only thing that will save the world.
Senate Probes Justice Dept Efforts to Limit Minority Vote
In news from Capitol Hill, the Senate Judiciary Committee has asked a former Justice Department civil rights chief to answer accusations that he was a central figure in a broad Republican strategy to suppress the votes of minority voters. Former Justice Department civil rights lawyers have alleged that the official, Bradley Schlozman, led a legal campaign aimed at making it harder for poor African-Americans, who tend to vote for Democrats, to meet voting requirements.
This has all been well documented by Greg Palast, the investigative reporter for the BBC and Democracy Now.
Greg has courageously written and reported on how the Republicans, headed by the dirty trick, dark artists Karl Rove, systematically worked to defraud African Americans and Hispanics out of their right to vote. Rove and company colluded to deny these people of their Constitutionally guaranteed right to have their votes counted.
The trail is there. While the Republicans were pressing US attorney's to attack minorities for voter fraud, the Republicans were deeply involved in defrauding those citizens and the American people in general out of a fair and open election.
Mundanely, this needs to be investigated. Of course, the Real Liberal Christian Church knows that there is no help for the American system. It is a house that is irreconcilably divided. The selfishness upon which it is based must be completely separated away from those with unselfish hearts. They cannot live in the same house. It will fall. Mark our words. It is prophesied.
Canadian Company in Talks to Buy Reuters For $18 Billion
In media news, the Canadian company Thomson Corporation is in talks to buy the British news organization Reuters for nearly $18 billion. If the deal goes through, the merger would result in the world's largest news and financial data company.
Tenet Makes $2.3 Million From Companies Profiting Off Iraq War
Investigative reporter Tim Shorrock of Salon.com has revealed that former CIA director George Tenet has made at least $2.3 million since he left the agency by working for four corporations that are directly profiting from the so-called war on terror and the war in Iraq. Tenet did not disclose any of his corporate ties in his new book, At the Center of the Storm. Tenet sits on the board of directors of L-1 Identity Solutions, a major supplier of biometric identification software used by the US to monitor terrorists and insurgents in Iraq and Afghanistan. Tenet is also a member of an advisory board for Analysis Corporation, which is designing terrorist watch lists for the government. Tenet also serves on the boards of two other government contractors, Guidance Software and Kinetic.
Now, everything he says must be taken with a huge grain of salt. He is only going to say things to further himself and those who are paying him so much.
Former Marine Recruiter Jailed for Abusing High School Girls
In Wisconsin, a former Marine recruiter has been sentenced to one year in jail and three years on probation after he was accused of sexually assaulting two high school girls that he met at their school during a recruiting trip. A 17-year-old girl said the Marine, Donny Rage, groped her in his recruiting office and attempted to have sex with her at a party.
One of the victims said, "He had a gun in his room, and he was forcefully telling me what to do and forcefully telling me how to do different things. I was scared, and I felt I didn't have the right to leave the room."
Last week Rage pled guilty to one charge of false imprisonment. Prosecutors agreed to drop seven other charges as part of a plea deal.
You see here the mentality of the US Marines. This is what they attract.
Amnesty: Native American Women 2.5 Times More Likely to be Raped
A new report from Amnesty International has revealed that Native American women are more than two and a half times more likely to be raped or sexually assaulted than women in the United States in general. Studies show that one in three Native American women will be raped during their lifetime. Amnesty said many rape cases are never prosecuted, because there is confusion regarding tribal and county jurisdiction. It is estimated that 86 percent of rapes against Native women are committed by non-Native men, but tribal councils have no jurisdiction over non-Native offenders even if the crime takes place on tribal lands.
Why don't they have jurisdiction? Racism is the answer.

At Least 21 Afghan Civilians Killed in US Airstrike
At least twenty-one civilians have been killed in a US airstrike on a village in Afghanistan earlier today. The Pentagon says US troops were fighting insurgents in Helmand province. Local residents reported a higher toll of thirty-eight deaths and twenty wounded.
What is wrong with the US that they kill so many civilians? They don't care is the answer. The only thing that bothers them is that the news gets out about it. To most of them, Afghanis are subhumans not fit to be concerned about. Many US troops would just a soon kill them all.
US Pays, Apologizes to Kin of Afghan Victims Killed in Mass Shooting
The attack comes one day after the US military paid compensation and apologized to the families of nineteen people killed and dozens wounded by US Marines in March. The Marines fired indiscriminately on a crowd of civilians after a suicide car bomber and gunmen allegedly ambushed a US convoy. On Tuesday, US army brigade commander colonel John Nicholson told victims' families he is "deeply, deeply ashamed." Colonel Nicholson says he delivered payments of around two thousand dollars to the families of the dead. Meanwhile Afghan lawmakers have passed a bill calling for a halt to all foreign military operations unless they're coordinated with the local government.
7 Iraqi Children Killed in US Attack
In Iraq, another US airstrike has claimed the lives of seven children. A US helicopter opened fire on a primary school in a village close to the Iranian border. At least three other students were injured with heavy damage to the school building. The US military says it fired after coming under attack from the school grounds.
Well, too bad. You don't fire on a school full of children. It could be a lie anyway that they were fired on from the school. Regardless, they don't have any business being there. What are the fathers of those children going to do now? Are they going to dedicate themselves to killing the child killers? What would American fathers do if an occupying force in America were murdering American children in school yards? They'd do everything possible to get back at those troops and to rid the country of the occupying force. It would be wrong, but that's what they'd do.
Pentagon: 35,000 Troops to be Deployed to Iraq
The Pentagon has announced a troop deployment that will maintain the so-called surge at least through the end of this year. Thirty-five thousand replacement soldiers in ten brigades will begin deploying in August. The announcement comes as a CNN poll has found just over half of Americans oppose President Bush's veto last week of a bill calling for the withdrawal of US troops beginning this fall.
Cheney Meets with Iraqi PM in Unannounced Visit
Vice president Dick Cheney is in Iraq on an unannounced visit. Cheney met with Iraqi prime minister Nouri al-Maliki in the first stop of a week long tour of the Middle East. The trip marks Cheney's second visit to Iraq as vice president.
What kind of garbage did he spew while he was there? What kind of evil message did he deliver?
Russian Photographer Killed in Iraq
A Russian photographer has become the latest journalist killed in Iraq. Dmitry Chebotayev was traveling with US troops in Diyala Sunday when their vehicle was struck by a roadside bomb. Chebotayev is the first foreign journalist killed in Iraq this year.
Charges Against Ex-CIA Cuban Operative Dismissed
A federal judge has dismissed immigration charges against the anti-Castro Cuban militant and former CIA operative Luis Posada Carriles. On Tuesday, US District judge Kathleen Cardone said the US government practiced "fraud, deceit, and trickery" when it interviewed Posada about his case. The Venezuelan and Cuban governments have led international calls arguing Posada should be prosecuted for more serious crimes. He's linked to a series of deadly attacks, including the 1976 bombing of a Cuban airliner that killed 73 people. The Bush administration has refused to extradite him to Cuba or Venezuela.
In a statement, the Cuban government said, "The terrorist's release has been concocted by the White House as compensation for Posada Carriles not to reveal what he knows, not to talk about the countless secrets he keeps on his protracted period as an agent of the US special services."
The Cuban and Venezuelan governments have repeated their calls for the extradition of former CIA operative Luis Posada Carriles to stand trial for his role in the 1976 bombing of a Cuban airliner that killed 73 people. Posada was scheduled to go on trial in Texas on Friday for immigration fraud, but a US federal judge tossed out the indictment making Posada a free man. On Wednesday, Cuban foreign minister Felipe Perez Roque accused the Bush administration of interference.
Cuban foreign minister Felipe Perez Roque said, "Posada Carriles being free is not an accident. Posada Carriles is free, because there is a plan by the White House, authorized by Bush, to prevent Posada from going to jail."
Family members of the victims of the airline attack spoke out in Havana.
Odalis Perez, whose father co-piloted the downed plane, said, "Above all else, we feel a deep indignation, because knowing that one more time the United States government has left Luis Posada Carriles free on the streets with impunity. For us, it is a deep indignation."
We've written before about Luis Posada Carriles, the fascist, Cuban terrorist who was responsible for a series of terrorist attacks and planned attacks against civilians and others. Carriles was a CIA operative especially during the George H. W. Bush term as director of the CIA. For those of you who have read our site in-depth, you will remember that George H. W. Bush was heavily involved in fascist-Cuban efforts to derail the socialist revolution in Cuba and to reinstall a fascist dictatorship more than sympathetic to crime syndicates of the traditional Mafia but also of the Anglo-Saxon country-club set of which G. H. W. Bush was a prominent member.
Peter Kornbluh of the National Security Archive has publicly revealed documents he recently obtained from the Venezuelan government showing the notes of a Carriles employee that give specifics about attacks and planned attacks by the Carriles terrorist cell.
The US government though wants Carriles gagged from revealing his historic connection with the CIA.
The documents show that Carriles and others were directly responsible for the October 6, 1976 terrorist downing of Cubana Flight 455, in which all 73 people on board were murdered in cold blood.
This group was/is so insane that it had thirty-four pounds of C-4 plastic explosives ready to blow up an auditorium full of college students in Panama City, Panama, who would be listening to a speech by Fidel Castro at the time. Hundreds of people would have been murdered if it hadn't been for Cuban intelligence that thwarted the plan. Arrests were made and the explosives seized.
This cell is still being protected by fascist, gangster Republicans in the US government. It's all about reopening Cuba up to gangster takeover so the rich can again rape the Cubans and their land.
Now, he is walking free in Miami, Florida. Will he skip out of the country? Will he be spirited out of the country by the CIA to parts unknown, to a safe house somewhere to live out the rest of his life in luxury at the expense of American taxpayers?
The mundane international law requires the US government to extradite Carriles or to prosecute him for his acts of terrorism.
Carriles has admitted that he was a CIA agent for twenty-five years. He was a CIA agent during, and well after, his terrorist bombing of Cubana Flight 455.
Why were the immigration charges dropped against him? Was it to protect the CIA? Yes.
In Cuba, youth groups are holding a two-day mock trial against the former CIA operative Luis Posada Carriles. This is Maragarita Morales Fernandez, daughter of a victim who died in the plane attack.
I don't like talking about death, I don't like to talk about terrorism but I do it precisely because I know that at some point, we will get justice. The North American people can no longer be lied to.
6 Arrested in New Jersey on Plot to Attack US Base
In New Jersey, six people have been arrested on allegations of plotting to attack the US military base at Fort Dix. Prosecutors say the accused monitored the base and planned to use rocket-propelled grenades and automatic weapons.
New Jersey US attorney Christopher Christie said, "Through the amazing efforts of these law-enforcement officers, we were able to infiltrate, cooperating witnesses into this terror cell, to be able to give us more information and to allow us to effectively surveil their conduct over the last sixteen months. These people were in possession of numerous jihadist videos. They had possession of the video of the last will and testament of two of the nineteen hijackers from September 11. They had video of Osama bin Laden calling Muslims to jihad. They also showed videos to each other of armed attacks and killing of United States military personnel around the world."
That doesn't prove anything. Having videos proves nothing. They better have more evidence than that. Also, have they been provoked? Were there agent provokers involved? Was it entrapment?
After all the dirty tricks by this government, one must ask questions. One cannot simply take the word of the FBI or any governmental entity.
Four of the suspects were born in former Yugoslavia, another in Jordan, and the other in Turkey. The FBI says there is no evidence linking them to al Qaeda.
Northern Ireland Swears-in Power Sharing Government
In Northern Ireland, leaders of the main Protestant and Catholic parties were sworn in Tuesday as ministers in a historic power-sharing government. A deal was reached between the two sides in March.
Martin McGuinness, a Sinn Fein leader and new deputy first minister, said, "I think what the people are going to witness today is not hype but history. And what we're going to see today is one of the mightiest leaps forward that this process has seen in almost 15 years."
Anti-Bush Mexican Protesters Released After 2 Months in Jail
In Mexico, eleven protesters arrested during president Bush's visit to the Yucatan city of Merida have been released after nearly two months in jail. The eleven were released on condition they renounce charges of torture and abuse in police custody. Eight protesters remain behind bars.
Florida Indicts 8 Prison Guards on Abuse Charges
In Florida, eight former prison guards have been indicted on charges of abusing prisoners at the Hendry Correctional Institution in the Everglades. Prison officials say the guards beat prisoners and forced them into dehumanizing behavior including cleaning toilets with their tongues.
Senate Votes Down Importing Cheap Medication
The US Senate has killed an effort that would have allowed consumers to buy imported prescription drugs at significantly lower costs. The Senate voted 49 to 40 to impose safety standards government officials say they cannot meet.
Republican Senator David Vitter of Louisiana said, "Once again the big drug companies have proved that they are the most powerful and best financed lobby in Washington."
The US drug companies don't care about consumer safety. They care about profits. It is one of the worst rackets on earth. It is making a profit off disease. It is often making diseases worst.
Student Loan Head Resigns as Marketing Ties Probed
The top government official overseeing student loans has stepped down amid mounting controversy over her agency's ties to marketers and lenders. Theresa Shaw's resignation as head of the Office of Federal Student Aid comes as lawmakers have opened probes into the personal and financial ties between industry, university, and government officials. The Education Department admitted last month companies may have improperly mined a national database of student borrowers to obtain marketing information.
Study: US Hospitals Charging Uninsured More
A new study shows US hospitals are charging uninsured patients two and a half times more than patients with health insurance. The gap has steadily increased over the last two decades but has seen an even sharper jump since the Bush administration took office. The study appeared in the medical journal Health Affairs.
It used to be the other way around. Hospitals and doctors used to give a break to people who weren't covered by insurance, who can't afford insurance. To charge the uninsured more is unconscionable. Woe to hospitals and doctors who do it.

14 Killed, 87 Wounded in Iraq-Kurdish Capital Bombing
In Iraq, at least fourteen people were killed and eighty-seven wounded in a car bombing in the northern Kurdish town of Arbil. The explosion struck a building housing the Interior Ministry. It was the first major attack in the area in more than three years.
Hundreds of demonstrators turned out in Kadhimiya to protest the visit of vice president Dick Cheney. Iraq was Cheney's first-stop on a week-long Mideast tour.
More Details Emerge in Haditha Massacre
More details have emerged on the US massacre of twenty-four Iraqi civilians in the town of Haditha in November 2005. On Wednesday, sergeant Sanick Dela Cruz testified he urinated on the dead body of an Iraqi killed by his fellow Marines. Cruz also said he saw his squad leader shoot down five Iraqi civilians who were trying to surrender. The testimony came in a pre-trial hearing for a Marine charged for the massacre and the ensuing cover-up.
"Shoot down five Iraqi civilians who were trying to surrender"! What kind of monster is that? Who's the enemy here? The enemy is the spirit of death and falsehood inside that spiritually dead squad leader. He better spend the rest of his life atoning.
US Embassy Orders Staff to Wear Flak Jackets in Green Zone
In Baghdad, the US embassy has ordered all staff to wear flak jackets and helmets while outdoors in the Green Zone. The order comes following a wave of recent rocket attacks. The Green Zone is one of Iraq's most heavily-guarded areas.
It's a wonder that it hasn't come under much more attack than it has. It's a wonder it hasn't been leveled or turned into a hole.
Pentagon Planned Iraq Media Control Before Invasion
The National Security Archive has released a pre-war memo showing the Pentagon planned to control the Iraqi media three months before the US invasion. In a three-page document, the Pentagon called for a "Rapid Reaction Media Team," saying, "Having professional US-trained Iraqi media teams immediately in place to portray a new Iraq (by Iraqis for Iraqis) with hopes for a prosperous, democratic future, will have a profound psychological and political impact on the Iraqi people... A re-constituted free Iraqi domestic media can serve as a model in the Middle East where so much Arab hate-media are themselves equivalent to weapons of mass destruction."
Well, they should have given the Iraqis a democracy by not interfering in the process of developing the new constitution. The first draft by the Iraqis was a relatively good constitution. It was turned to garbage by Paul Bremer. Everything he did there was pure garbage. It was all as dumb as a doornail. Of course stupid people undertook the whole operation in the first place, and stupid people hired someone stupid to go there to run the show.
That may not sound very Christian to some people, but Jesus wondered aloud about how his own disciples could be so dimwitted.
Look, evil is stupid to be and to do. The Iraq War is evil; hence, it is stupid.
We know people use the expression evil genius, but that's an oxymoron. Ultimately, only righteousness is intelligent. All other choices are dumb. It is dumb to do what will cause suffering and falling especially once one has been told to straighten up and that not to straighten up means a further falling into evil that inevitably brings pain and suffering and death of the soul.
How much plainer and clearer does it need to get?
GOP Representatives Warn Bush on Iraq War
Eleven House Republicans have warned president Bush the Iraq war is risking the Republican Party's future and that he cannot count on their open-ended support. In a meeting along with top White House officials Tuesday, the congressmembers presented Bush with "dismal' polling numbers showing growing opposition to the war.
This brings to mind Barry Goldwater telling Richard Nixon that Nixon better resign.
It was only a matter of time. If Bush doesn't heed, he'll go down really hard. If he attacks Iran, he won't recover. His party will have no mundane choice but to rip him to shreds. They'll have to impeach him and remove him from office. They'll have to take down Cheney with him too. That will make Pelosi the president. She will then run for the office, and many will want to keep her there since she won't have been the one to drive the impeachment process.
Just how insane is Bush? It isn't a matter of whether. It is a matter of how much. He has no moral compass. His vision is awful. He is still listening to the neocons, to the false Zionists who are insanely salivating over the prospect of Bush ordering the Pentagon to undertake a major attack on Iran. He's a very confused person. Does he think he's going to save Israel and be in God's good graces for it by attacking Iran? Does he take himself seriously in the religious sense? No. He is just calculating about how history will view him. He's using an outdated gauge though. He doesn't see what has been happening to the people in America. They are waking up. The standard is rising way too high for him now, thank God.
This is not to say that it won't still get worse. It's just a break before the ultimate storm.
Democrats Back Measure to Allow More Iraqi Refugees
House Democrats say they plan to introduce a measure that would increase the number of Iraqi refugees allowed in the United States. The "Responsibility to Iraqi Refugees Act" would allow an additional twenty-thousand Iraqi refugees over the next two years with another fifteen thousand families eligible for "special immigrant status" for each of the next four years.
Wow, murder their relatives and then invite them over without even repenting. Exactly which Iraqis are going to be allowed in? The ones they have in mind are the ones who will be run out of Iraq for having been collaborators with the US. That way, the US will end up with the most selfish of the bunch, almost as usual. Think Cuba and Vietnam. Oh, there are plenty of Cubans and Vietnamese people in the US who are anti-fascist. Unfortunately, there are more with strong fascist leanings than not. Many fascists who had stolen from the people ended up in the US.
Pair Found Guilty of Leaking Al Jazeera Bombing Memo
In Britain, two men have been found guilty for leaking a memo detailing a conversation in which president Bush reportedly tells British prime minister Tony Blair he wants to bomb the Doha headquarters of the Arabic television network Al Jazeera. David Keogh, a former civil servant, and Leo O'Connor, a former parliamentary researcher, were charged with violating the Official Secrets Act. Most of the trial was held in secret with reporters barred from the proceedings. Bush and Blair's meeting was recorded by Blair's adviser on foreign affairs. The memo came with a note reading, "This must not be copied further and must only be seen by those with real need to know."
We all had a need to know what kind of monsters the people allowed to be put into place as leaders. Britain is fascist now; otherwise, those two would have received medals after Blair and Bush were driven from office.
Blair Announces Resignation Date
Blair to Step Down Next Month
British prime minister Tony Blair has announced he'll step down next month after more than a decade in office.
British prime minister Tony Blair said, "So, I've come back here to Sedgefield, to my constituency where my political journey began and where it's fitting it should end. Today, I announce my decision to stand down from the leadership of the Labour party. The party will now select a new leader. On June 27, I will tender my resignation from the office of prime minister to the Queen."
Blair will stay on until the Labour Party elects a new leader, widely expected to be finance minister Gordon Brown. While Blair's announcement drew praise from leaders around the world, critics say he will be remembered for following President Bush into an unnecessary war. This is Brian Haw, an anti-war protester who has camped outside the British parliament for nearly six years:
I voted for Mr. Tony Blair the first time along with many people in my country. He was the big white hope wasn't he? After Thatcher, the war monger, and we hoped for something better didn't we? 'I'm Christian Tony. I am going to do right by everyone.' Have you seen what he's done?
Meanwhile in Iraq, a Basra resident identified by his first name Mahmoud said Blair's departure was of little consequence.
The issue is not his resignation. The British military bases will remain. I do not think they will leave the Basra province. They've built bases in Shueiba and in many other centers of other areas.
He's been driven from office, finally. Will he be held to account for his war crimes? He isn't repenting. He's still defending his despicable actions.
Israeli Troops Beat Peace Activists Protesting Hebron Roadblock
In the Occupied Territories, Israeli troops beat dozens of Israeli peace activists protesting a roadblock in the West Bank city of Hebron. The group had come to help local Palestinians place ropes around large stones to remove them from blocking a main road. They were able to move one stone before Israeli troops arrived on the scene. This is Israeli activist Ben, who did not give his last name.
Israeli peace activist Ben said, "He knows I'm Israeli, but he doesn't care. He started hitting people. He hit my friend, and he's arrested now. And then he came and hit me really strong in my lung. Nothing. We were just standing there, and he started hitting people. He was telling us to go back. And he just jump [jumped] on us and he hit me with the barrel of the gun."
Israel is fascist too. Of that, there is no doubt. They are not God's chosen. They have been replaced by a nation bringing forth the fruits of heaven. The Israeli leaders are only bringing forth hell on earth for their neighbors. Can anyone doubt it? They are going to bring down the wrath on their whole nation and people. It has happened before, and it will happen again. They are too stiff-necked to learn. It's a shame. They could do so much to make the world a better place for all.
World Bank Rebukes Israel on West Bank Stranglehold
The protest comes as the World Bank has issued harsh criticism of Israel's system of closures and checkpoints in the Occupied Territories. In a new report, the World Bank says Israel's hold over the West Bank is preventing a revival of the Palestinian economy and harming Israel's security. The report says Palestinian freedom of movement is the exception and not the rule, hampered by a near fifty-percent increase in roadblocks over the last two years.
The Israelis need to wake up. They are being condemned by the World Bank, the Red Cross, the UN, Amnesty International, and a host of others. The community of nations holds Israel as the most dangerous nation on earth. That's marks them. They have done it to themselves by being so racist and supremacist.
The only thing that is withholding the wrath is those Jews who openly abhor what their fellow Jews are doing. Sooner or later though, that won't be enough to protect them. Even those Jews who lean heavily toward unselfishness will have to let go.
German Police Raid Activist Sites Ahead of G8 Protests
In Germany, police have carried out a mass-crackdown on activists ahead of next month's gathering of world leaders at the G8 summit. More than nine hundred police officials targeted at least forty sites across six states. Several people were arrested. Police say they were targeting protesters planning violent attacks. In Hamburg, demonstrators poured into the streets following a raid on a local youth center. Police walled off the center with barricades and used water cannons to disperse the crowds. Officials have meanwhile erected a steel wall topped with razor wire around the resort town where leaders will meet. More than one hundred thousand people are expected to turn out for a protest that will be confined to a town twenty miles away.
What does it say about the G8 leadership that such undertakings are taking place? The G8 is hated. It is hated for what it represents, what it does and doesn't do. It is the symbol of greed and selfishness. It is the symbol of exploitation. It is the symbol of all that is wrong about the way the planet and humanity is being led.
What a statement about itself that it erects steel walls with razor wire. If they were enacting good things for the people, there would be no need for steel walls or razor wire. They would be carried through the streets on the shoulders of the youth in celebration rather than being so roundly despised.
Bush Tours Kansas as Governor Faults Iraq War for Slow Recovery
Bush toured the Kansas town of Greensburg Wednesday, days after a tornado that killed ten people. Bush faced continued criticism recovery efforts have been hampered because much of Kansas National Guard personnel and equipment is in Iraq and Afghanistan. Kansas lacks about half the large equipment it could use for recovery efforts and debris removal, including dump trucks and front loaders. Bush said he could offer this help.
Bush said, "Our role as government officials is to work with the state and local folks to get whatever help is appropriate here, whatever help is in the law to be here as quickly as possibly. My mission today though is to lift people's spirits as best as I possibly can, to hopefully touch somebody's soul."
Bush was accompanied by Kansas governor Kathleen Sebelius. Governor Sebelius said another major incident needing guard support would force her into "a terrible choice" of who to help.
She said, "After four years [of war] there's no question that, year after year, guard supplies are depleted not just in Kansas but all over the country."
Gates: National Guard at Lowest Level Since 9/11
The governor's comments came as defense secretary Robert Gates admitted National Guard equipment levels are at their lowest since the 9/11 attacks. Appearing Wednesday on Capital Hill, Gates said National Guard members have only fifty-six percent of their required equipment.
Religious Groups Launch "New Sanctuary Movement" for Immigrants Facing Deportation
A coalition of religious groups has launched a campaign to offer sanctuary to immigrant families who risk being separated under the threat of deportation. Members of the "New Sanctuary Movement" say they will open their churches, mosques, and synagogues to shelter families facing deportation orders. At least six congregations in Los Angeles, New York, Seattle, and San Diego will harbor one family each.
This isn't the way. It's stopgap only. It's not the solution. What those congregations should do is what the Real Liberal Christian Church plans. Those families they plan to harbor need a good place to work and live. The Church, with enough assistance from people who convert to unselfishness, can provide that in the form of farmland where greed, violence, and sexual depravity are not allowed. That will be providing the best environment possible for the children growing up. It will spread and be magnified.
Ex-Kansas Attorney Says He Was Told to Step Down
A former US attorney has added his name to the list of eight federal prosecutors whose dismissals have led to a Congressional probe. Former Kansas City attorney Todd Graves says he was asked to step down in January of last year months before the other prosecutors were let go. The disclosure comes ahead of today's second Capital Hill appearance for attorney general Alberto Gonzales.
Report: Moore Investigated for Cuba Trip
The Associated Press is reporting the Oscar-winning filmmaker Michael Moore is under investigation for taking ailing 9/11 rescue workers to Cuba for medical treatment. Moore filmed the trip for his upcoming documentary about the US health care system, called 'Sicko." The Treasury Department is looking into whether Moore violated US embargo laws against Cuba. A source close to Moore says Moore has placed a copy of the film in a 'safe house' outside the US to protect it from possible government interference.
The US government has no authority to stop people from going to Cuba for healthcare they aren't receiving in the US. The right of the people to healthcare trumps the US embargo laws. Anyone who doesn't know that doesn't understand the law. Just read the Universal Declaration of Human Rights to which the US is signatory. It is a higher law than the embargo law.
It is highly hypocritical that Bush/Cheney is going after Moore while they have released the CIA, Cuban fascist-terrorist Carriles.

Toll in US Bombing of Afghan Village Could Reach 80
The civilian death toll from the US bombing of a village in Afghanistan this week could be nearly four times the official figure of twenty-one. The New York Times reports residents of the Sarwan Qala village are claiming as many as eighty civilians were killed in the attack. At least three houses were destroyed. Most victims identified so far are women and children.
The US is going to pay for this callousness. The US is not going to keep its empire, because it is not bringing forth the kingdom of God but rather hell. It is that simple.
Iraqi Lawmakers Back Draft Bill for Withdrawal Timetable
A majority of Iraqi lawmakers have approved a draft bill calling for a timetable for the withdrawal of US troops and a freeze on current troop levels. The measure would require Iraqi leaders to seek parliamentary approval for any extension of foreign troops when the UN mandate expires this year. At least one hundred thirty-eight of Iraq's two hundred seventy-five member parliament have signed on.
Bush Vows Veto for New House Iraq Funding Measure
The Iraqi draft bill comes as the House has approved a measure that would fund the Iraq war in two stages. Money would be provided until July but then held up until Bush reports progress on reaching several benchmarks. Bush has vowed to veto the measure, as he did the Democrats' war funding bill last week. This is House speaker Nancy Pelosi:
The legislation that we are putting forth on the floor today gives the president the money that he needs for the next few months to engage in the war in Iraq but it has accountability and that is something the president has always resisted and Democrats are not going to give the president a blank check for a war without end. What we want to do is go to the conference and negotiate with the Senate and with the White House on legislation to bring this war to an end. We believe that the legislation that we will present on the floor today will be in furtherance of reaching that store.
The resolution was approved after anti-war Democrats failed to pass a measure that would put an end to most US military operations in Iraq within nine months. The vote got more supporters than expected, with one-hundred seventy one in favor and two-hundred fifty-five opposed.
Bill author congressman Jim McGovern of Massachusetts said, "This is proof that the United States Congress is getting closer to where the American people already are."
Cheney Continues Mideast Tour
Vice president Dick Cheney is in Abu Dabi today following a two-day visit to Iraq. On Thursday, Cheney addressed a gathering of US troops in Tikrit.
Cheney said, "Many of you have had your deployments extended, and that puts an unexpected hardship on you and your families. I want you to know the extension is vital to the mission. The army and the country appreciate the extra burden that you carry."
Cheney's Mideast tour will also take him to Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Jordan. Those are the conservative states where the rulers are strongly opposed to sharia rule and where they are willing to oppress the people to make sure that they, the rulers, maintain secular power.
The US capitalist couldn't stand secular governments that are egalitarian, the only kind other then real Christian that could gain enough general support to stave off Islamic fundamentalist rule. Therefore, the US capitalist stick the people with dictatorial rulers.
4 Iraqi Journalists Killed in Kirkuk
Four Iraqi journalists have been killed in a shooting in the northern city of Kirkuk. It was the second attack against Iraqi media workers in less than a week.
Russian Military Head: US Missile Shield Akin to Berlin Wall
Russia is accusing the US of trying to build a new "Berlin Wall" with its plan for a new missile shield in Europe.
Russian chief of staff general Yuri Baluyevski said, "Today it is suggested to us, without any assessment of the threat but simply accepting a hypothetical threat of the sort I mentioned, notably from Iran, that we should build new Berlin Walls in Europe. We are against this. We do not consider that today there is any threat of the sort that would allow us to go back to what we have left behind.
The comments come one day after Russian president Vladimir Putin compared US foreign policy with Nazi Germany.
Haitian Refugees: Capsized Boat Deliberately Overturned
Survivors of a boat capsizing that killed at least sixty-one people fleeing Haiti last week are claiming they were deliberately overturned. The survivors say they were just minutes from the British territory of the Turks and Caicos Islands when a patrol boat rammed them and left them to drown in shark-infested waters. More than one hundred sixty people were on board. Both the Turks and Caicos and British governments have declined comment.
Ramos-Horta Wins East Timor Vote
In East Timor, the Nobel laureate Jose Ramos-Horta has won the presidential race with nearly seventy-percent of the vote. It's East Timor's first presidential election since winning independence from Indonesian occupation in 2002.
Bush Administration Withholds Emails on Rove Role in Arkansas Hiring
More developments in the US attorney scandal:
Investigative journalist Murray Waas is reporting the Bush administration has withheld e-mails showing senior White House and Justice Department officials collaborated to conceal the role of White House strategist Karl Rove in installing his former deputy Timothy Griffin as US attorney in Arkansas. The emails show attorney general Alberto Gonzales' former chief of staff, D. Kyle Sampson, worked with White House officials on two letters that misled Congress on the appointment and Rove's role.
The Bush administration is going to have to stop trying to protect Rove.
CBS Fires Iraq General for Anti-War Ad
In media news, CBS has dismissed an Iraq war veteran over his involvement in an ad campaign criticizing the war. General John Batiste appears in an ad from the group VoteVets.org. Batiste has been working as a CBS News consultant.
CBS used to be independent-minded. Now it is running way to the false-right. It is cowed by the Jewish Lobby. It is a coward. It is an instrument of the oppressors. It is interested in the bottom line and not truth.
This group, VoteVets.org, doesn't understand. The world needs leaders that the people don't have to teach. VoteVets.org is trying to reeducate John McCain. What they don't understand is that Dennis Kucinich is right that anyone who voted for the Iraq War is automatically disqualified to be the leader of the world. That vote showed too much terrible judgment. Why try to teach an unrepentant leader good judgment and then vote him or her into office when there are people who voted against the War who are already there?
This is not a Church endorsement of Dennis Kucinich for president. The presidency would only spoil him. He wouldn't be able to do what he really would want to do. He'd have to compromise his ethics. The system is not built for egalitarianism, and Kucinich is an egalitarian at heart.
Limbaugh Criticized for Racially-Charged Obama Song
The right-wing talk show host Rush Limbaugh is coming under criticism for airing a song about Democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama called "Barack the Magic Negro." The song has played on Limbaugh's program in recent weeks. Obama was given Secret Service protection last week in part due to threatening messages posted on white supremacist Web sites.
Limbaugh is viperous a la the Pharisees.
"Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation of hell?" (Matthew 23:33).
However, why is Barack Obama getting so much backing? It isn't because of his legislative accomplishments. It isn't because he's saying anything particularly worthy. It's style. It's walking the tightrope. That's not what the world needs though.
The world needs to be told what's wrong and what must be done. We have seen nothing of that coming from Barack Obama. He's with the huge majority in that regard though. It isn't all his fault.
He's been talking the standard false Zionist line. He's been taking the money from all the sources that will hold him to doing the favors they expect or they'll pull him down from where they put him.
What good is any of that? None.
Latino Groups Reach Deal on PBS WWII Doc
A coalition of Latino organizations have reached an agreement with the filmmaker Ken Burns on a forthcoming World War II documentary that had been criticized for ignoring the role of Latino soldiers. The 14-hour film, "The War," initially included no interviews with any Latino veterans even though over 500,000 Latinos served in the war. The documentary also included no interviews with any Native American veterans. After an initial refusal, Burns has now agreed to incorporate Latino voices into a new cut of the film.
Well, what a thing to fight for: War pride. Getting such inclusion is no accomplishment to brag about.
Where's the film about the conscientious objectors during WWII. They're the unrecognized heroes. They're the Christians who stood by the pacifist teaching and life example of Jesus Christ who would not have gone to war against even Hitler.
Human Rights Watch Report on Wal-Mart
On April 10, 2007, we published an article about Wal-Mart and its tactics against workers and small-community competition and cooperation. On May 1, 2007, Human Rights Watch issued a report about Wal-Mart's reactionary anti-union activism. The report corroborates our article and the documentaries and articles upon which it is based.
Wal-Mart's core owners, the Walton family, is hyper greedy. They are not interested in paying workers any more than humanly possible. They give only as much as necessary to remain cut-throat competitive. There is no compassion in it. It is all propaganda driven. It is all misdirected away from the Gospel message and Godliness and righteousness.
In the long run of course, it won't work. Those companies that comprehend that giving and sharing is in everyone's best interest will end up doing better and lasting. They will move with some degree of continuity into the future of the saved/new world.
Of course, the real Christian Commons/communes will move in perfect continuity toward that future.
US Army Afraid of Joan Baez
The US Army has banned Joan Baez from singing to the soldiers at scandalized Walter Reed Army Medical Center. She was, and is, too antiwar for the Army.
John Mellencamp and Baez had done a song together on Mellencamp's last album. He invited her to sing at his concert at Walter Reed, but the Army wouldn't allow her to sing there.
Joan Baez is a homosexual (lesbian). People do have a right to bar her. The US Army though does it for the wrong reason.
Reaction to the Virginia Tech Shootings
The libertarians are calling for zero restrictions on gun carrying. They believe the right to bear arms is a constitutional guarantee. Of course, the US Constitution is specific that the right to bear arms is directly linked to official, state sponsored citizen militias. Nevertheless, the gun libertarians are advocating the right to carry concealed weapons into schools and workplaces and elsewhere (every where).
The real Christian position is that we can't coerce people into not carrying or using guns. We can state openly though that guns are not a solution to human politics. Jesus said that those who live by the sword will die by the sword. Of course, we are talking about spiritual death.
If carrying weapons were right, the savior would have carried weapons. There is no salvation in the selfishness of using weapons on others even in so-called self-defense. It is the wrong example, the wrong path. It puts the flesh above more important considerations. It puts flesh above belief in God.
US Harboring Another Known and Self-admitted State-Sponsored Terrorist
Louis-Pierre Dillais is the president of FNH USA, a US subsidiary of a Belgian weapons company. The US government has contracts with FNH USA. Dillais has openly admitted that he was a member of the French state-sponsored terrorist-attack squad that bombed the hull of the Greenpeace ship, the Rainbow Warrior, while it was in the Auckland Harbor of New Zealand in 1985.
So here we have the US supposedly at war with terrorism harboring terrorists and doing business with them.
Iraqi Muslims Are Allegedly Demanding Christians to Convert to Islam or Leave Iraq
It is being reported that Christians are finding notes telling them to convert or leave. If they don't convert or pay protection money, they are killed.
This is what Bush's Iraq War has brought.
Occidental Polluted Peru
Occidental Petroleum has been accused of causing devastating environmental damage over decades of operations in Peru. Occidental sold off its oil business in Peru.
Over a thirty-five year period, Occidental apparently illegally dumped some nine million barrels of toxic waste onto the ground and into the waterways of Peru. What does that company owe the Peruvians? Is the entire company worth enough to pay back the damage? Is the entire worth of all the shareholders who turned a blind eye enough to pay them back?
An indigenous group from the Peruvian Amazon has filed a class-action lawsuit against Occidental. The suit cites Occidental for a series of health and environmental problems from waste left over the past 30 years in the tropical rainforests of Peru. A recent report from Amazon Watch and Earth Rights International accuses Occidental of dumping nine million barrels of untreated toxic waste directly into rivers and streams used by the Achuar people resulting in widespread lead and cadmium poisoning.
Andres Sandi, president of the Federation of Native Communities of Rio Corrientes, said, "The steps we are taking are to demand from the government that we don't want anymore petroleum companies. We will continue to position ourselves very strongly, and we continue this fight against the state and against the petroleum companies."
Lawrence Wilkerson Says Bush/Cheney Impeachable Offenses
Lawrence Wilkerson was a top State Department aide to Colin Powell. He has said that Bush/Cheney committed "high crimes and misdemeanors." The only news here is that another former Bushite has turned people's evidence that is not yet state's evidence.
The 2002 War Authorization is Not Still Valid (if it ever was)
The authorization listed two purposes. One was to defend the US against Saddam Hussein and the other was to enforce UN resolutions against Hussein's government. Since Hussein is gone, so is the authorization to continue to use force in Iraq.
The Democrats in the Congress know this, but they are too cowardly to enforce it.
Article of Note: Anti-capitalism in five minutes or less, by Robert Jensen
This article begins to broach the Real Liberal Christian Church position. It is worth reading for the beginner or for a quick refresher.
We don't know where the author, Robert Jensen, and the Church would completely diverge. Perhaps we wouldn't. For the Church, human nature, per se, is wholly re-makable. We can make of ourselves wholly righteous spirits by feeling, thinking, saying, and doing wholly righteous things only. This is the teaching and life example of Jesus Christ.
George Tenet was not a Republican. He was a holdover from the Clinton Administration. He was not a neocon. He was not a false Zionist. He was not a militarist-not a Pentagon man. He was not in with the people from PNAC. Cheney and Rumsfeld did not include him in their inner circle. He was not for invading Iraq. He did tell Bush-43 that the CIA was split down the middle over the intelligence. He told Bush well before the public was let in on the lead up to the War.
However, once the writing was on the wall and Tenet knew that Bush was going to war regardless of anything else, he fell into line. He worked the system to the CIA's advantage and for the sake of his own empire building. Then he took the fall and accepted the medal from Bush.
Once he had been out of office long enough and had secured his private-sector millions and position in the military-intelligence-industrial complex and could readily see that Bush is going down for the count, he released his book that is critical of Bush/Cheney.
He thinks he has it all made in the shade now. However, there's the devil to pay for not resigning over the lies in the lead up to the War. He hasn't repented. He's still touting the intelligence industry for his own personal gain. That's not atoning.
George Tenet is being told here so he may see the light. He is being warned so he won't lose his eternal soul. It's up to him to overcome the greed and violence and no doubt other lurking depravities.
Dennis Kucinich has revealed that the US Congress is legislating that Iraq must privatize its oil or the US will pull out and not provide peacekeeping troops. No doubt the US would not provide any help whatsoever and would even treat Iraq as a sworn enemy much the way the US is talking about all the Latin American and other nations with nationalized oil.
The US invaded Iraq to steal the Iraqi's oil. The US president, via executive order and strong-arming the UN, forced the oil industry into the hands of US oil companies lock, stock, and barrel. He said the oil belongs to the Iraqi people, but the US has not allowed the Iraqi people to control their own oil.
War is a racket. War-profiteers are gangsters. The US is ruled by gangsters. The Pentagon is their gangster-enforcer branch. They are all ruled by the satanic spirit: Greedy, violent, and depraved.
They are all liars who can never be trusted on any level. They are false hearted and ruining the planet. They will be destroyed, utterly, through their own faulty choices made in this life. How can it be otherwise and there still be salvation (separation) of righteousness from evil?
UK Channel 4 Documentary Faked Evidence Against Global Warming
The "Great Global Warming Swindle" is the title of a documentary aired on the UK's Channel 4. That documentary used doctored graphs to make a case against global-warming evidence. It is deceitful. It is designed to further the ruinous ambitions of the oil industry.
US and EU Agree to a "Single Market" in Some Sectors
Some people think that the North America Union talk is just conspiracy thinkers making it up. Now that US/EU harmonization of regulation is becoming more and more a reality, that so-called "just a conspiracy theory" looks more and more as becoming a likely reality too.
It will all hinge on so-called security issues. If the physical and cyberspace firewalls can be built thick enough, if surveillance and computer algorithms can be enhanced enough, if the people can be forced to act exactly within the set guidelines of the global kleptocrats/oligarchs, then the rich will merge first and increasingly devour the rest of the planet and then move out into outer space.
What will this mean for freedom of religion and the other "freedoms"?
The name of the game is consolidation and monopolization. Everything is to be privatized and owned by the richest stockholders at the top who will control everything, literally. Government will be control by the corporations with the richest person sitting at the apex as the global dictator: Satan.
This will become the united states of the world or world union or world federation or such other name. It will be an ostensible democracy only. People will vote, but the choices will be tightly controlled. Mammon will still rule.
What's the alternative? The Real Liberal Christian Church model is the alternative. It is the exact opposite of the satanic thrust. The Church is the antithesis of the conditioning of Satanism.
Satanism is selfishness and kills the soul. Christianity (real Christianity) is unselfishness and grants real life to the soul. It grants the eternal life in truth, which is as free as free gets.
Now, there is nothing wrong with Europe and the US cooperating. The problem lies in cooperating for the sake of the devouring spirit that will only go so far in cooperating-only far enough to place everyone else under godless control.
There is no first-being-last-and-last-being-first in it. There is no shepherd-as-servant in it. Everything rather is designed so that those at the top of this inverted pyramid from hell are slaved over by coerced sycophants. The kingdom of God has no place in it and it has no place in the kingdom of God. There is no light or righteousness in it. It is the exact wrong direction in which to head. It is the wide path to hell where all will eventually suffer immeasurably.
The people who discuss these things the most are the Libertarians and the Fundamentalists. The Libertarians don't want to lose "sovereignty," and the Fundamentalists are split between those who see the worldly leadership as godly or satanic depending upon ideologies that have nothing to do with real Christianity. It's time for the real liberals to discuss these things openly, honestly, and directly.
The new world order is coming, but it is just a consolidation of the same old order under selfishness. That so-called new world order will then be displaced by the real new world order of God and Christ that is righteous and unselfish. That's the prophecy, and it is correct. It must and will happen.
