ECUADOR - PRESIDENT CORREA URGED TO RECONSIDER DECISION NOT TO GIVE ANY MORE NEWS CONFERENCES - 3.07.2007

Reporters Without Borders is worried about President Rafael Correa's often violent verbal attacks on the media and, above all, his recent decision not to give any more news conferences. The organisation urges him to try to defuse the tension which has developed, with his help, between him and the media.

More from the article: [Correa] said [sic] "in Latin America's history, the press has always been against progressive governments."
