War spending in the U.S., euphoniously termed "defense spending," is insane. Last month, the U.S. House passed a $696 military bill. Of course, the real cost of the military includes black operations run under a black budget. Some people estimate the real costs of the Pentagon at over $1 trillion a year. ("Rupert Cornwell: Out of America." independent.co.uk. February 10, 2008) Are the American people getting their money's worth?

All that military spending is buying death, destruction, waste, and many, many other evils. Nothing good comes from it.

I say stop. What say you?
