AFP - US justice and spy departments said Saturday the failure of the Democratic-led House of Representatives to renew a wiretap law had cost the loss of intelligence information.

RLCC: The telecommunication companies should never have agreed. They should all have done exactly what Qwest did, which was to tell the government to come back with a court order. The FISA court (Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act) is right there and willing (too willing no doubt).

The Bush administration lied to the American people about it's dragnet spying on them.

The federal government has no business in everyone's business. Not everyone is suspect after all. Innocent people have a right to discuss things in absolute privacy with only God knowing what is going on and not any human government.

Governments worth their salt respect that.
