BRAZIL: GUN BUY-BACK PROGRAM A SUCCESS

Commentary by Sam Logan for ISN Security Watch (28/02/08).

Results from a recently released study that measured population growth and homicides in Brazil between 1996 and 2006 revealed that homicides dropped by eight percent between 2003 and 2006, a time period that overlaps with a nationwide gun buy-back program during which nearly 500,000 firearms were removed from circulation.

RLCC: People who don't have guns don't shoot other people dead. Does this mean that people should forcefully take away the guns of otherwise law-abiding citizens? The RLCC is against coercion. The Church though is for each individual forgoing weapons-use against any other human being. The Church is for turning all weapons into farming tools, just as Isaiah envisioned and prophesied.
