Matthew23:23 "Woe unto you, Scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cumin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgement, mercy and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone".
Jesus Christ sanctions the fact that we should pay tithe. It was practiced in both the Old Testament and the New Testament.

Malachi 3:8-10 God required the people of Israel to give to his store house.

What was the store house used for?
The reason why God wants you to tithe is for there to be meat in the storehouse for the priest and the poor. Numbers 18:21-24-The Levites had no inheritance. ...

RLCC: I don't believe that Jesus taught tithing, per se. You are certainly headed in the right direction though by advocating giving to the poor and to those who spread the word and do the deeds without hoarding for self. Such giving can never be wrong. It is the law. Jesus commanded that we share what we are given. His law is alive now and ever shall be. Those who argue that we are not under obligation to give or that it is not the law or that there is no law any longer are in error. They are offering up excuses for the selfishness (evil and sin) in their hearts.
