AFP - Russian arms dealer Viktor Bout, dubbed "Merchant of Death" and accused of illegal arms sales, called on Russia to intervene on his behalf as he faces extradition to the United States, the RIA Novosti news agency reported Thursday.
The former Soviet air force officer is believed to have supplied arms to the Taliban militia, Osama bin Laden's Al-Qaeda terror network, rebels in South America and former Liberian leader Charles Taylor.
The United States wants to prosecute him on charges of conspiring to sell millions of dollars of weapons to Marxist FARC rebels in Colombia.
RLCC Comment: The U.S. supplied weapons to the Taliban and Osama bin Laden and Saddam Hussein and the Nicaraguan Contras and the Columbian Death Squads and other death squads. The FARC is considered a group of freedom fighters by many.
The U.S. is just being hypocritical. It supplies weapons to many evil entities. Weapons deals are capitalism in action. The only reason this guy is being singled out is because they want to make an example of him that people aren't to fight against (under a false-flag) the capitalist Empire without the sanctioning of the Plutocrats, and that isn't even a guarantee since they can easily turn on those they set up in power.
