AFP - British Prime Minister Gordon Brown has written to his Japanese counterpart asking for the impact of biofuel-production on food prices to be discussed at the Group of Eight rich nations summit in July, The Guardian reported Thursday.

RLCC Comment: As I've been writing on this site, biofuels as they have been pursued in the U.S. and elsewhere is insanity. I just can't believe how stupid everyone has been on this issue. All the energy going into growing corn and sugar and the rest for biofuels should have been going into wind and solar energy and other similar efforts.

Nuclear certainly isn't the right direction either. The Republicans like biofuels and nuclear. They have been much less environmentally responsible. Why follow them?

Follow the most environmentally aware people. They will come up with ways of living that are every bit as advanced and high as anything the greedy will devise only the over-all quality of life under the environmentalists will be much higher. It will not result in a net loss when the whole planet's well-being is considered.
