"Why should we have to pay for the crimes of the Nazis and the Holocaust? It was not the Palestinian people who did this, so why did we lose our homeland?" he [Hamas leader Mahmoud al-Zahar] asked.
His problem is not with Judaism but with Zionism and the occupation, he added.
"I do not believe that they will offer us a Palestinian state, and what they are theoretically offering now only encompasses 15% of the Palestinian people," said al-Zahar, adding: "We are ready to accept any deal to help our people, but our right to return must be recognised."
