"It is practically illegal to be an authentic Christian in our environment...precisely because the world which surrounds us is founded radically on an established disorder before which the mere proclamation of the Gospel is subversive." —Archbishop Oscar Romero
It is practically seen to be illegal to be an authentic Christian in our environment. However, those who truly know, know that authentic Christianity is the highest form of law, even the only true law. This would not have confounded Archbishop Oscar Romero in the least.
His words above are timely to come my way, as I was thinking about Liberation Theology when I woke up this morning. I was thinking about the current Pope and how he was and remains against Liberation Theology, not just the militant version (I stand opposed to the militant version) but against simply putting the poor first to be served. Joseph Ratzinger does not stand against the system that is capitalism and mammon. I do.
