They want to drill in the Arctic Refuge but they don't drill where they already have leases. They want to drill off Florida and California, but they export oil from the U.S. The oil they export is heavy crude, but they closed down over 150 U.S. refineries during the last 25 years. Rather than plow profits back into exploration, ExxonMobil is paying big dividends and buying back stocks. If they were planning to remain profitable by converting to becoming a green-energy supplier, they would be investing in that. They are buying back stock without investing in anywhere near enough research and development into green alternatives. They fully expect to get their way continuing with global-polluting-and-warming oil.
