Benczkowski said torture that is not "for the purpose of humiliation" doesn't violate the Geneva Conventions. He wrote, "The fact that an act is undertaken to prevent a threatened terrorist attack, rather than for the purpose of humiliation or abuse, would be relevant to a reasonable observer in measuring the outrageousness of the act."
That's sick. For one, Benczkowski is willing to torture mere suspects. Everyone the CIA and DIA and private contractors to whom the U.S. government formally outsourced its torture regime tortured was not guilty. They tortured people innocent of the crimes of which they were supposedly suspected. They tortured people who had no information about terrorism. They tortured people just to throw the fear of the insane Empire into the common people around the world. They threw the steering wheel and moral compass out the window on purpose to come across as incapable of being reasoned with, hence no one should refuse to do what he or she is told from the start. No one should defy the Empire.
Mukasey has been arguing that the torturers "cannot and should not be prosecuted." He's insane. Why is he the U.S. Attorney General? He knows nothing about the law. Mukasey must go.
