The problem right now is that the powers that be want to regulate all the little people with surveillance while deregulating themselves. It's a problem, because the big troubles down through history have always come from that kind of effort. It's always been abusive. The information gathered has always ended up being abused. It's gathered in the name of safety, security, and law and order but ends up being used to oppress and suppress and worse.

So, the people could decide collectively that they want to regulate their economy but not spy on each other as if everyone is guilty before proven innocent or as if being innocent doesn't matter regardless, which is more of how the current crowd, the neocons, treat everyone.
