HOLD A NEW, RUNOFF ELECTION, HEAD-TO-HEAD, AHMADINEJAD AND MOUSAVI, WITH INDEPENDENT, INTERNATIONAL, PROVEN OBSERVERS NATIONWIDE
I'm not a secularist. I don't hold with coercive democracy. However, I am infinitely interested in peacemaking. Therefore, if the Iranians are going to have a coercive, mundane democracy, under the circumstances, it would appear that they should hold a new runoff election, head-to-head, Ahmadinejad and Mousavi, with independent, international, proven observers nationwide, such as the Carter Center and others like it that have been used often and around the world to monitor and validate election results.
If the clerics refuse to do this, they are being egotistical, shortsighted, and playing into the hands of warmongers and empire builders.
There is ample reason to hold new elections as soon as possible. The fact that they have confirmed that an early estimate is that some 3 million excess ballots were counted (no matter who stuffed the boxes — CIA contractors?) is more than sufficient grounds for undertaking what I've suggested above. This is true even if the 3 million turns out to be much less or even negative. It would clear the air. It would take the wind out of the warmongers' sails.
I urge them to do what is at least mundanely most in the interest of peace.
