The article talks about the problem of charging locations, but the smart idea is to have battery swapping. All you'd do is pull in and swap your battery pack for a charged pack. The charging stations would be solar-panel driven. Also, the cars themselves should be made of solar energy generating material for all exterior surfaces and perhaps some interior surfaces as well.
This is the idea I came up with for hydrogen cars decades ago, but the powers that be rejected electric and hydrogen cars because those "powers" were oil-based and as greedy, selfish, and shortsighted as all get-out.
