Tom Usher commented or added the following:
There can be democracy or capitalism but not really both without hyper hypocrisy. Now, there could be consensus. That's what is really needed. However, that would require that the grasping, greedy, covetous, lying, thieving, land-grabbing, etc., types repent and seek to atone for their multitude of sins. Therefore, the focus must be on repentance first.
"But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." (Matthew 6:33 KJV)
God is righteousness no matter how else you have been defining God, no matter whether you think there is only the material as you've known it. If it's righteous, it's Godly. That is the "spirit," the mentality, the sentiment, the action.... It is the real life beyond so-called temporal flesh.
With it, we can and will transcend the greed that lies at the heart of usury (lending at interest — the current model of "banking"). It is the only way! Stopping short, stopping at "there is nothing but matter — not [that] spirit" will ultimately result in failure.
