Unfortunately, the least risky approach politically is also the most dangerous: do nothing until the world is faced with a cataclysm and then slip into a frenzied crisis mode.

The one and only answer is unselfishness. The carbon corporations though are based upon selfishness, and there's no such thing as enlightened self-interest in capitalism -- state or otherwise.
