Yes, unlike Netanyahu's idiotic blathering, this is a legitimate criticism of Iran

Iran detains outspoken lawyer calling for free elections

I don't like Iran's theocracy, naturally. I'm a Christian for starters. I don't care the degree to which some Christians and some Jews, etc., are allowed to live without being persecuted to death when it comes to the question of real democracy. If real democracy would result in the Islamic government falling, then the only reason that government prevents such democracy is because that religion is too weak to hold the people voluntarily. That's the standard I apply to my own religion.

My belief is that the only reason the world isn't fully Christian is because what Christianity even truly stands for is a mystery to the vast, vast majority. Part of that is intentional within real Christianity itself, as can be shown by Jesus's own words.

And the disciples came, and said unto him, Why speakest thou unto them in parables? He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given. For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that he hath. Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand. And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive: For this people's heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.

(Matthew 13:10-15)

Here's the deal, though. Even when the parables are fully explained, many still don't understand or they understand but give up after a bit.

With that said, I don't believe it is beyond humanity to become universally Christian. Many will fall away and not be among the remnant that will be the universally Christian world. That universally Christian world will be the result of each and all literally voting with hearts, minds, and souls for the consensus understanding that will bring the Highest Heaven into the People and the People into that Highest Heaven.
