Democracy versus socialism?

Public ownership is people ownership collectively rather than privately. You can't have public (socialist) ownership or people ownership without democracy. Take the democracy out, and you're left with something other than public. You're left with elitist ownership. That's why you can't correctly separate democracy and socialism. Socialism is an economic system, but democracy is inextricable. State ownership and public ownership are not synonymous.
