THE DLC: RUINATION OF THE NEW DEAL
I remember learning about the causes of the Great Depression through the culture. My parents lived through it in their teens and twenties. Then they lived through WWII. Then I witnessed and read all the undoing of all the systems that were put into place to avoid exactly what has occurred again.
When the talk of such undoing was beginning under Reagan's first presidential campaign, I thought as a young person that the older folks would never be so stupid as to go down that path. They did though.
Then the Democrats, in order to win elections, moved far to the right (so-called) under the Democratic Leadership Council and Bill Clinton. Now here we are in a mess that we are being told not to look at its causes or to lay blame. Hogwash. We are all to blame but some are more to blame than are others. I'm to blame for, among other things, not speaking out enough.
