Frankly, the mundane law is always ambiguous. The term, "natural born citizen" isn't defined in the Constitution.

Women right in the middle of labor used to cross the border just so their babies would be U.S. citizens, considered "natural born," regardless of the mother's status. The mother was then also a citizen or at least couldn't be forced to leave the country or her child because the U.S. wasn't heartless enough to throw a baby citizen's mother out of the country.

That's my recollection about the history I was taught. Whether or not that was the case at the time, I haven't researched.

Do you believe the U.S. Supreme Court would rule in accordance with your view concerning both parents having to be citizens? I wonder if they would even hear a case based upon your position.

The term "natural born citizen" is not ever going to be pinned down to the satisfaction of racists as long as a member of a despised race or ethnic group is the target.

Do you believe John McCain was natural born even though he was born in Panama?

Obama's mother was a U.S. citizen but reported by some, she hadn't lived long enough in the U.S. to meet the requirements of the law.

For practical purposes, neither McCain nor Obama should have been on the Texas ballot, but you saw how that turned out. George W. Bush should not have been appointed by the Supreme Court, but you saw how that turned out too. All sorts of laws (supposed high laws) were violated left and right by George, but no one even held a committee hearing about impeachment.

What I'm saying here is that the system is rotten to the core and needs total replacement.
The ground has been needlessly cumbered by a tree that never brings forth to feed all the children in due season.

Personally, for me, I don't put stock in the system. Neither McCain nor Obama is my leader. To use the old expression, I wouldn't elect either dog catcher.

I sure don't hold with racists in either case. Do you hold with them?

And for those, who had properly positioned themselves to be left, sit prettily in relative terms and will swoop in at the bottom of the market to buy up the economy at bargain-basement rates (on the money transferred to them from those who are not rich) consolidating the economy further into their fewer and fewer hands.
